Yves Cuilleron is one of the greats of Condrieu. He is based in the village of Chavanay, just south of Condrieu with familial roots going back a century. His grandfather was the first to bottle wine for commercial purposes in his village. Yves assumed control of the estate from his uncle Antoine in 1987. He increased the exposure of Condrieu but also gained holdings in nearby Cote-Rotie and even acquired vineyards in St-Peray, far to the south. His flagship wine is the “Petite Cote Condrieu.” The vines are planted on the terraced slopes in Chavanay with south, south-west exposure gaining maximum morning sunlight. It is aged for 9 months in barrel with regular battonage.
Pale, green-hued straw. Suave, mineral-accented citrus and pit fruit aromas are complemented by suggestions of violet and ginger. Silky and focused on the palate, offering energetic Meyer lemon and Anjou pear flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Finishes impressively long, smooth and precise, showing a building mineral quality and a touch of spiciness

The origin of Bersano dates back to the 1920s, when Giuseppe Bersano acquired land and vines from the Count Cremosina in the Asti Area. A sweet, white wine with quite intense aromas of honey, flowers and fresh grapes. On the palate the wine reveals further fresh grape and citrus notes. A clean wine with refreshing acidity on the finish to balance the sweetness.

M. Chapoutier Cotes du Rhone Belleruche Blanc has a bright golden yellow hue. The nose is intense and expressive with notes of apricot, fennel and floral aromas. Complex and very elegant on the palate, with whispers of smoke and hazelnut accent fresh, cutting white peach and pear in this full-bodied yet zesty dry white. Predominantly Grenache Blanc, it’s a sumptuous sip given lift and edge by smaller proportions of Clairette and Bourboulenc. The finish is intensely mineral.

the 2019 M Chapoutier Saint-Joseph Blanc Les Granilites is a strong effort, these Marsanne grapes hail from the steep, fine-grained granite slopes inferred by the cuvée’s name. There are enticing aromas of ripe apricot and pear on the nose, strung together by a fine steely, stony note. The palate is mouth-watering yet balanced, and showing remarkably intense flamed citrus zest and even marmalade-like scents on the nose. In the mouth, this full-bodied wine is round and generous, almost honeyed, yet finishes long and zesty, with attractively mouthwatering, briny echoes on the finish.

The 2021 Condrieu Invitare shows the fresher style of the vintage while still bringing plenty of classic Viognier texture and richness. Flowers, apricots, and orange-tinged aromas and flavors all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, balanced, and an outstanding Condrieu to drink over the coming 4-6 years.
