Ruby red in colour with garnet highlights after ageing. Characteristic soft bouquet, delicate nose with an aroma of violets and berries becoming finer and more noticeable with ageing thanks to hints of vanilla and high quality wood. The taste is dry, smooth and well-bodied, with just the right amount of tannins. Serve with strong, mature cheeses and roast white meat when young; roast red meat and feathered game if aged. Serve at 18-20°C. Its aromas will develop to the full if it is decanted one hour before serving.
